Establishing in the subterranean depths of Melbourne’s Flinders Lane in the year 2000, Christine was the namesake boutique belonging to fashion doyenne Christine Barro that quickly built into an emporium of world renown. Showcasing fashion, accessories, art and antiques in an environment that pre-dated experiential retail by more than a decade, it delivered a rarefied style and salon event that aided in elevating the city to ‘the world’s most liveable’.

In 2019, the emporium moved to its current resting place at the Paris-end of Melbourne’s Collins Street, where floors added, collections grew and the name eked out to identify location.

Christine on Collins continues to present thoughtfully edited collections of fashion, fragrance and accessory, by the world’s most lauded design talents, in a multi-storeyed salon without peer or precedent.

The limited-edition Balmain x Trudon candle is the one-off, never-to-repeat result of a creative collaboration between French fashion house Balmain and the world’s oldest and most esteemed candle-maker Cire Trudon. It synergises La Patrimoine de Balmain Paris: Marinière stripes and assertive tailoring, with the historic legacy of Trudon, the art of French fragrance house Robertet and the hand-making of Italy’s Vinci glass masters who translated Balmain’s iconic bands in gold-foil and black lacquer. Taking the cigar-laced, leathery base of Trudon’s Ernesto and building on its cedar wood, nutmeg, and gunpowder notes, Rousteing and Bouge added the mystery of a black rose - the highly fragrant cultivar sought after by the scent industry and judged symbolic of Pierre Balmain’s complex fashion constructions and assertive, artsy clientele.
